Window cleaner Arthur Eteson passed away on Friday 20 November.

He has been cleaning windows in the area for years and was a well-loved member of the community.

The 79-year-old was cleaning windows up until the day he passed away.

Lee Cheetham from Uncles Pawnbrokers, in Ribbleton Lane, told Blog Preston: “He’s been a family friend for 30-odd years, he lived in one of the flats.

“He was still cleaning windows until the day he passed away.

“He was the most generous guy.”

Uncles Pawnbrokers and Top Café are organising a collection to go towards Arthur’s funeral.

A Facebook post from Top Café describes Arthur as ‘selfless’ and expresses that the collection is to give Arthur ‘the send off he deserves’.

A spokesperson from Top Café said: “Arthur always put a smile on our faces, always had time to have a chat with us.

“It seems that everyone knew Arthur and I have heard nothing but kind words about him and I am overwhelmed at the amount of people that are getting together to help give Arthur the send off he truly deserves.

“I do hope he left us knowing how liked and respected he was.”
