Police are investigating an act of vandalism.

Police are investigating an act of vandalism where a Silent Soldier (pictured left) has been torn down on Sheep Hill Brow opposite Clayton-le-Woods Primary School in Chorley.

The offence occurred on Remembrance Day (11 November) between 11:30am and 3pm, and the broken metal silhouette style statue was left on the floor at the scene.

Sergeant Harrison said: “This is an appalling act of vandalism and is in extremely bad taste especially given that it occurred on the day where we remember our fallen soldiers.

“I hope the person who has done this has the remorse to come forward and apologise for what they have done.”
