When lockdown 2 ends on Wednesday 2 December, Preston will be put back into tier-3 with the strictest restrictions.

One member of the public said: “I’m so mad and I never get mad how can this have been calculated fairly and accurately we’ve been like this since August.”
Another said: “This is so bad. We have been under restrictions since August. Why are the public health not fighting for the same as Liverpool.”
A different disgruntled resident said: “It’s an utter joke & an absolute disgrace.”

Many people were unhappy to see Preston in tier-3, while London was put into tier-2.
One person said: “Laughable London is in Tier 2. Just screams something else.”
Another said: “This is desperately unfair and obviously ineffective. London’s R rate is far higher than ours but they’re on tier 2.”

And others noted that they were not shocked at the announcement and urged people to take the restrictions more seriously, with one person saying: “If people would stick to the rules we could get this virus down and get some more freedoms. Come on people.”
Another said: “Every other person I see not wearing mask and those that are have their noses sticking out. Is it any wonder we’re permanently in this state?”
Someone else added: “Over 200 comments in reply to this article yet very few of them accept any responsibility themselves, always everybody’s else’s fault. Tier 3 is in place because individuals/ we are generally not following instructions.

“Just go for a walk in Preston or areas around it very few wearing face masks, strangers sharing cars with no masks on, groups meeting in the streets no spacing, no masks and lots of interactions. Follow the rules!”
Some people tried to see the positive side of the announcement: “Keep your sights on Spring 2021 and vaccines. Next Summer will be glorious!”
Another said: “We are all disappointed but let’s look at as an opportunity to save someone’s life. Stick to the rules follow Liverpool’s example and show London how it’s done.”
