A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences.
The 16-year-old was arrested yesterday (Thursday 5 November) after a warrant was executed at an address in Preston.
A police presence around the Janice Drive and Broadway area of Fulwood was reported throughout Thursday.
He is currently in police custody. Greater Manchester Police are taking the lead on the enquiries.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Yesterday (Thursday 5 November 2020), officers from Counter Terrorism Policing North West executed a search warrant at an address in Preston and have arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of terrorism offences.
“He remains in police custody for questioning and enquiries are ongoing.
“At this time there is not believed to be any immediate threat to the wider community.”
