M6 near Preston closed after lorry fire

The M6 northbound near Preston is closed after a lorry caught fire last night (Friday 6 November).

Emergency services were called to reports of the fire between junction 32 and junction 33 at just before 8pm.

Two lanes were shut before the northbound carriageway was closed completely, with access from the M55 also affected.

A Highways England Twitter post said: ” The #M6 north between #J32 and #J33 is still closed due to a vehicle fire -with no access from the #M55#J1 either while recovery takes place. This is expected to remain closed until 08:00 7/11/20 – Please follow the diversion.”

The diversion is via the A6 between Broughton and Galgate.
