A Lostock Hall company is running free online quizzes to help people stay positive throughout lockdown 2.

Quiz Live will be holding the quizzes each Wednesday during the new national lockdown, with prizes up for grabs.

The quizzing company is run by Damion Alton and Carl Matthews.

Damion said: “We’re producing the free quizzes to try and keep communities together and promote mental health positivity during lockdown, especially with it getting darker and colder.”

Before Covid-19, the pair ran smartphone quizzes in local pubs. They adapted the offering during the first lockdown, to broadcast live to local customers’ homes.

After starting their online quizzes using Zoom and a modified quiz software, Damion and Carl refined the offering, eventually building a new website.

In the process, Quiz Live ended up attracting quizzers from around the world.

“The pandemic has been very hard for a lot of people. We knew that entertaining families within their own homes was very important.

“No matter where our quizzers have joined from, they have become a community. All logging in week after week to compete in the quiz, talk with friends, and to be entertained through these difficult times.”
