We’ve had plenty of news to bring you from Preston over the past week.

It was announced that Argos in the Fishergate Shopping Centre has permanently closed, a Fulwood school received a significant investment to help with online learning support and a duo were jailed for their involvement in attempting to steal a Co-Op cash machine.

The Moorbrook appealing for information following burglary

Staff at The Moorbrook in Preston have been left ‘very upset’ following a burglary on Wednesday 4 November.

It is believed at least two men entered in through the back of the property and stole a small TV and an Amazon fire tablet at around 7-8am.

They are now appealing for anyone who might have been passing by The Moorbrook between 7am and 8am and may have seen something suspicious, to message them with the information.

Preston and South Ribble record further Covid infection rate falls

Preston and South Ribble’s coronavirus infection rates are continuing their downward trend.

A third consecutive day of a lowering of infection rates comes before the city, county and country going into tighter restrictions in a second national lockdown.

Preston recorded 64 new cases for Wednesday (4 November).

How we’re supporting Preston and South Ribble restaurants and pubs switching to delivery

BlogPreston are urging people to order food locally where possible to support small businesses.

As Preston enters another lockdown and restaurants, pubs and bars shut up shop, many residents may be wondering how they can play their part.

Takeaway deliveries and collection services were a lifeline to many hospitality operators during the last lockdown, so Blog Preston wants to shout about the offerings of our local community.

Preston teenager arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences

A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences.

The 16-year-old was arrested yesterday (Thursday 5 November) after a warrant was executed at an address in Preston.

A police presence around the Janice Drive and Broadway area of Fulwood was reported throughout Thursday.

Preston’s virtual Christmas lights switch on announced

Preston city centre will be lit up by a special virtual Switch On of its Christmas lights this year, Preston Business Improvement District (BID) have confirmed.

The Virtual Christmas Lights Switch On will take place on Saturday 21 November with people invited to enjoy live performances, from the safety of their homes, before the all-important count down.
