Police are appealing for information after an 82-year-old man and his 8-year-old granddaughter were threatened during a burglary in Penwortham.
AdvertisementThe incident happened at around 6pm on Saturday (28 November) at a property in Hawkhurst Road.
Four men forced their way into the address, threatening the man and his granddaughter with a screwdriver and a knife. They ransacked the house, stealing cash and personal property. The group then made off in a dark-coloured SUV style vehicle.
The men are described as white, between 5ft 5ins to 5ft 7ins tall, and aged in their mid-twenties to early thirties.
A spokesperson for South Ribble Police said: “This must have been terrifying for the victims – an elderly man and a child – who were threatened in the place they should be most safe, their home.
“Thankfully, they were not physically hurt but have been left extremely shaken.”
Police are following a number of lines of enquiry to find the offenders.
“We are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious, particularly a dark coloured SUV style vehicle, to contact us.
“We are also appealing to anyone who has dash cam or CCTV footage of people or a suspicious vehicle in the area.”
Anyone with information should call 101 or email 65@lancashire.police.uk quoting log number 1084 of November 28th.
