Two people in hospital after M6 crash at Preston involving five cars and a lorry

Two people have been taken to hospital after being cut free from vehicles after a major crash on the M6 during Friday rush-hour.

Lancashire Police shut the M6 southbound shortly after 5.30pm on Friday (30 October).

The crash, involving five cars and a lorry, shut the motorway between Junction 31 (Tickled Trout) and Junction 30 (M61 interchange).

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service released two people from their vehicles and they were taken to Royal Preston Hospital by ambulance.

Motorists experienced six-mile tailbacks up to Junction 32 and onto the M55 as emergency services worked to clear the scene, with delays of up to 90-minutes in some cases.
