Preston’s coronavirus infection rate is teetering on the edge of passing the 400 mark for the first time.
AdvertisementLatest figures calculated by the Press Association show Preston’s infection rate is now 398.9 per 100,000 people for the seven days to October 17.
In the previous seven days to October 10 the city’s infection rate was 350.7 per 100,000 people.
New Covid-19 cases recorded for Wednesday (21 October) for the city were 96.

South Ribble saw 67 new cases on the same day and the highest increase was in Blackburn with Darwen with an increase of 214.
The infection rate in South Ribble for the seven days up to October 17 is now 333.1 per 100,000 people – up from 280.7 per 100,000 people up to October 10.
Blackburn with Darwen, Rossendale and Burnley all have infection rates above 500.
Preston remains in tier-three restrictions with tighter rules on household mixing, non-food pubs and bars forced to close as well as soft play centres.
