When it is launched, Prestonians will be able to see which landmark has landed the game’s top spot, which travel themed spots will take the place of the four train stations, and which local charities will Pass GO.

So far five spots have been announced on the board: St Catherine’s Hospice, Deepdale, PNE Community Education Trust, Dig In and the Preston Street Pastors.

The Harris, Avenham Park and the Flag Market have all been tipped for leading spots.

The makers of this new Preston version of the world famous board game are proudly describing the new game as ‘A Love Letter to Preston’.

They were originally going to launch the game at 10am on Thursday 21 October when the game hits the shops, but will now go live on Facebook 15 minutes before the big release.

Mark Whittle, Preston BID Manager, said: “Preston is fortunate to be home to many outstanding landmarks, businesses and charities.

“So it’s only fitting that they are now immortalised on the city’s very own version of Monopoly.

“Monopoly conjures up lots of great memories for so many people, who will now get the chance to learn a little more about proud Preston and its assets, whilst enjoying – what we are sure – will be the perfect Christmas gift.”

The new board is being produced by Winning Moves UK, under official license from the Monopoly brand, owned by Hasbro.

George Shrimpton, Custom Games Executive at Winning Moves UK, said: “The game will feature the great and good of the city – and is in effect A Love Letter to Preston!

“We have been wonderfully spoilt for choice putting the game together and would like to thank everyone who sent in suggestions when we went through a public consultation process.”
