Police say body found in Preston Docks is missing Blackpool man

The body of a man recovered from the Docks at Mariners’ Way, Ashton-on-Ribble, has been named as missing man David Watkinson by police.

David, 56, from Blackpool was last seen on 24 September, and despite not being formally identified yet, Preston Police believe the body to be his and his family have been informed.

Police were called to reports of a body in the docks this morning (Wednesday 7 October).

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

In a post shared on Facebook, Preston Police said: “We would like to say a huge thanks to everyone who responded to our previous appeal in our search to find David.

“Our thoughts remain with his family and friends at this very sad time.”
