The hospice’s head of community engagement, Emma Jacovelli, said: “Each year we team up with our trusted partner solicitors across Lancashire, who generously give their time for free to provide professionally-written wills to our supporters at a discounted rate, and the donations come straight to St Catherine’s.

“It’s the perfect opportunity for people to ensure that their wishes are known and their loved ones are taken care of in the future. Wills not only cover finances and property; they also address who will look after your children or pets, funeral arrangements, organ donation and more.

“It’s really important to have your affairs in order to help protect the people and causes you care about, and it also gives your loved ones peace of mind that they are carrying out your wishes when the time comes.

“Appointments for simple single and mirror wills (for married couples) take as little as half an hour, and this year places are available over the phone or in a number of branches across Preston, Chorley and South Ribble. Slots fill up fast, so I’d really urge people to get in touch and make the most of this beneficial scheme.

“Wills Week raises much-needed funds for our charity, and gifts in wills fund the care of one in six of our patients at the hospice and in people’s own homes.

“There is no obligation to leave a gift for St Catherine’s in your will if you take part in Wills Week, but leaving a legacy for charity is a good way of supporting the causes that matter to you in years to come, without costing you a penny now.”
