M55 fully reopens after police incident at Kirkham junction

Motorists travelling between Preston and Blackpool experienced long delays during Wednesday (7 October) morning.

Lancashire Police closed the motorway between Junction 3 (Kirkham/Wesham) and Junction 4 (Peel Hill) in both directions.

Police were called to a concern for welfare after a man was spotted on a motorway bridge.

Highways England closed off the motorway and diverted traffic off at Junction 3 from around 6.30am.

All lanes were reopened around 8.25am.

There were further delays for drivers as the M6 southbound between Junction 33 (Garstang) and Junction 32 (Broughton) saw lane closures from 7.30am due to a broken down vehicle.
