A Penwortham bar and cocktail lounge is preparing to open after being closed for a fortnight.

Lime Bar Lounge’s owner Jane Johnson took the decision to temporarily shut on 4 October after two staff tested positive for coronavirus.

Ms Johnson said both staff were fit and well after their positive test and the venue has been deep cleaned.

Lime Bar, in Liverpool Road, is due to open during Thursday (15 October).

South Ribble, at present, is under tier-two restrictions – meaning pubs and bars can stay open.

However, the district and many other areas of Lancashire, look set to be moved into tier-three measures.

This would force pubs and bars to close, but Ms Johnson said if measures were upgraded she would plan to remain open and serve meals.

Ms Johnson told Blog Preston, on the eve of reopening: “All staff are fit and well and we are eagerly ready and embracing the new tiered guidelines.

“It’s been exhausting with the constant changes but we are focusing on launching our new food menu which we will now be offering till 9pm for everyone.

“If we do go into a tier-three lockdown, I will be trading with food.”

Government restrictions for tier-three, or ‘very high’ areas, state: “pubs and bars must close. They can only remain open where they operate as if they were a restaurant, which means serving substantial meals, like a main lunchtime or evening meal. They may only serve alcohol as part of such a meal.”

South Ribble has an infection rate of 276.2 per 100,000 people, for cases in the seven days up to 10 October.
