Work has started to turn the former Withy Trees pub in Fulwood into a Muslim place of worship, teaching centre and foodbank.

The local said: “The neighbourly volunteers have been cleaning residents’ alleyways.
“They’ve also been clearing old mattresses and other items from the rear access and the old beer garden.
“The outside works have started, and it will be some time before the building is open for worship, study and the food bank.”
The former pub at the corner of Lytham Road and Garstang Road was sold off by Greene King last year.
The change of use application was approved under delegated powers by Preston City Council in June.
