The works will renew the road surface, replace the crossing deck, renew the boundary fence, drainage work and renew road markings.

Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the work and diversions will be in place for vehicles.

Sarah McArdle, scheme project manager at Network Rail said: “To make Station Road in Bamber Bridge safer for pedestrians, vehicles and trains, we’re investing £100,000 to replace the surface of the level crossing from Friday 11 until Tuesday 14 September.

“The work is complex and involves a brand new level crossing decking, with associated concrete, fencing, rail, tarmac and road markings, which is why there will be a road closure in place during this time.

“We’re very grateful for residents of Bamber Bridge for their patience while we make Station Road level crossing safer for decades to come.”
