Queen’s Drive Primary School, Fulwood has been temporarily closed as a result of a positive Covid-19 test.
AdvertisementPupils in all year groups have been sent home but have not been told to self-isolate for 14 days.
The exact number of cases at the school is unknown.
The school has announced that they are to reopen Tuesday 6 October.
The nursery within the school grounds, Evergreens has not been affected.
In a letter to parents Evergreens nursery said: “We would like to ensure you that nursery staff and children have not been in contact with the person who has tested positive.
“We therefore will remain open and we can welcome all children as normal.”
This comes after all schoolchildren were encouraged to return in September following six months of closure during lockdown when only children of key workers and vulnerable children attended school.
This is thought to be the first school in Preston to fully close as a result of coronavirus though others have partially closed due to positive tests.
