English Martyrs’ Catholic Primary in Sizer Street is the latest school to be partially closed due to positive Covid-19 tests.
In a letter to parents and caregivers, headteacher Annalisa Howarth said: “Despite our rigorous, stringent and strict measures in place, we have unfortunately had two confirmedĀ cases of Covid-19 within school (in separate Bubbles).
“As a result, on Friday I had to ‘close’ the Year 2 Bubble until Monday 28 September 2020.
“Today I have had to close the Reception, Year 5 and the Year 6 Bubbles. All until Wednesday 30 September 2020.”

All children and staff identified as a close contact have been notified and are self-isolating.
The Reception,Ā Year 2, Year 5 and Year 6 classrooms haveĀ been quarantined for 72 hours, when a deep-clean of the rooms and equipment will take place.Ā
The school says it is in close liaison with Public Health England, the Department for Education, NHS and Lancashire County Council.
