Preston’s top 10 ‘Eat out to help out’ restaurants as voted on Trip Advisor
The Eat Out to Help Out Scheme launched on August 4 with restaurants offering up to 50 per cent off meals in a bid to boost the economy.
Hundreds of restaurants have signed up to the offer, adjusting their seating and safety procedures as they step up to the challenges presented by COVID-19.

‘I’m doing it for my grandchildren’ – one woman’s climate protest at Fishergate Barclays
A grandmother handed herself into police after staging a one-woman climate protest at Barclays in Fishergate.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary said: “We were called to reports of criminal damage at a commercial premises in Fishergate, Preston, at 1.20pm on August 15.”
Fulwood Central set to double in size a year after opening
Fulwood Central retail park is set to double in size just a year after opening, as plans for Phase Two of the shopping space are released.
The new expansion is set to include retail units, restaurants, a gym and crazy golf along with the development of a container park.
Preston’s test tramline could be back on track
A planning application has been submitted to use the old railway in Skeffington Road in Ribbleton as a test tramline.
The tram testline is set to connect from a Park and Ride at the M6 to the station, passing through Deepdale and Ribbleton before ending at Preston Station.
Fishergate Bollard gets its own action figure
The Fishergate Bollard has been turned into an action figure by Penwortham artist Graham Pearce.
The Bollard – or lack of the Bollard – features under the heading Car Wars, a play on Star Wars and a reference to the many battles the Bollard has fought and lost with vehicles through the years.
