Detectives are appealing for CCTV and dashboard mounted camera footage after a car was stolen during an aggravated burglary in Leyland.

Police were called around 10.20am on Friday 31 July to reports of an incident at an address in Towngate.

Earlier in the morning, at around 8.15am, a man in his 50s reported answering the door to a group of people who claimed to be looking for a woman in the property.

The group allegedly forced their way inside and attacked the victim, hitting him across the face, back and body. It was reported they stole money, a mobile phone and keys before making off from the scene in the victim’s silver Nissan Micra, registration plate AD04 CMU.

Detectives are appealing for information and urging anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage, showing the vehicle between 8.15am and 9.30am on Friday 31 July, to come forward.

Det Con Deborah Parkinson, of Lancashire Police, said: “We have launched an investigation following an aggravated burglary in Chorley.

“We believe a man has been attacked in his own home before having his car stolen and later set alight.

“While we have made a number of arrests, we are appealing for people with information, particularly CCTV or dashcam, showing the vehicle involved, to come forward.

“This is a serious incident and we believe a number of people will have seen the vehicle in question.”
