A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after a stolen car crashed and was set on fire in Penwortham.
Police were called at around 9am this morning (Friday 31 July) to reports of a Nissan Micra being driven erratically in Golden Way, which had then crashed into a lorry.
Penwortham firefighters were called to Hurst Park just after 9.30am where the vehicle was set on fire.
The boy has been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a Class B or Class C drug.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said that the car on the roadway was well alight when firefighters arrived, and that one hose reel was used. Firefighters were there for around 20 minutes.

A spokeperson for Lancashire Police said: “We were called at 9.05am today to reports a Nissan Micra was being driven erratically in Golden Way, Penwortham, and had then crashed into a lorry.
“It was later set on fire in Hurst Park.”
