This year’s Preston Christmas Lights Switch On is set to take place virtually.
AdvertisementPreston BID, the organisers and funders of the Switch On, say the decision to go online has been taken to protect public safety.
The annual extravaganza, which regularly attracts thousands of people on the Flag Market, is one of the highlights of the city’s events calendar, formally kick-starting the Christmas period in the city.
A spokesperson for Preston BID said: “We, like thousands of people, always look forward to this special event.
“This year, owing to obvious circumstances, we have no alternative but to look at different ways to mark the occasion, in the interest of public safety.”
