As lockdown restrictions ease, Preston’s hospitality sector is gearing up to reopen. Many pubs and restaurants will be opening their doors on July 4 but if you are planning a visit there will be changes in place to help with social distancing.
You’ll need to provide your name and address in case the need to track and trace arises, and many places will need to be booked in advance.
Here’s a list of the places we know of and the arrangements they have in place.
The Continental, South Meadow Lane
Is it even summer if you haven’t had a pint in the Conti beer garden? The pub will be open for food and drink from July 4 but with restrictions in place.
For tables indoors, the maximum size is six people and everyone seated must be part of one or two different households.
For tables outdoors, the maximum size can be eight people but they must all be part of one or two different households.
For a mixture of people from more than two households, you can book a table of a maximum size for six people outdoors only.
All bookings will be for three hours and you can book up to 15 minutes in advance. If you turn up without a booking, you may get a table, but only if available and they will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
You’ll be asked to remain seated, so no propping up the bar, although trips to the loo are allowed.

The Market Tavern, Orchard Street
After a slight misunderstanding with licensing, The Market Tavern will now open on July 4 at 11am.
The pub will be operating table service for pre-bookings and walk-ins where available.
The best way to guarantee a table is to message via their Facebook page.
The Stanley Arms, Lancaster Road
The Stanley will open at 10am on July 4 with bookings available till 11pm. The pub will close at 1am.

Theatre Street Bar and Grill, Theatre Street
Theatre Street Bar and Grill will open on July 4 with a new menu.

Lonely People Cocktail Bar, Winckley Street
Lonely People has been offering a takeout cocktail bar for the last week. However the bar is now taking bookings for indoor seating from July 4.

Olive Tree Brasserie, Miller Arcade
The restaurant will be opening on July 4, with a slightly earlier opening time of 11am. A number of measures have been put in place, including:
All staff rigorously trained on Covid-19
Restaurant layout updated to ensure suitable spacing arrangements
Disposable menus
Sanitising stations in place
Hygiene and cleanliness policies and procedures updated
Additional PPE & screens implemented
Distancing markers, guidance and one way systems
Updated booking system to avoid queueing and limit occupancy

The Plungington Hotel, Lytham Road
The Plungy will open on July 4 with the same arrangements as The Continental. Booking is advised, with reservations being for three and a half hours as standard.
The team are working on their online booking system, which will be available on their website, along with guidance on your visit.
The Fleece, Liverpool Road, Penwortham
The Fleece opens on July 6 with one hour 45 minute time slots.
Bookings can be made by downloading the Greene King app.
The pub has put in measures to ensure visitors are adequately spaced. Bookings are for indoors but if the weather is nice, they can be moved outdoors on the day.

Lime Bar, Liverpool Road, Penwortham
The Lime bar is opening on July 9 from Thursday to Sunday, 12pm to 10pm, with bookings available through their Facebook page.
Tables are for four people with three ‘bubble’ tables accommodating up to six people. Each booking is for an hour and 45 minutes to allow for cleaning between visitors.
Bookings can be made in advance for indoor tables. Outdoor bookings are weather permitting and can be made on the day between 9am and 10am.
Ordering will be through an app and temperatures will be taken on arrival.
1260 Craft and Crust, Liverpool Road, Penwortham
1260 Craft and Crust is open from 2pm to 11pm for pre-booked tables only. Tables are for six people from up to two households and are for one hour and 45 minutes to allow for cleaning between guests.
Last bookings are at 9pm and guests can not book a table for drinks only. There will be a limited food and drink menu but 1260 promises the full Craft and Crust experience.

Mr Lam, Preston Guild Hall
Mr Lam has put a number of measures in place to keep visitors safe when they open on July 4.
Tables are spaced 1m apart and can be booked for groups of up to 12 people, from two households only.
There are hand sanitising stations and drinks will be served at the table.
The menu can be downloaded using a QR code available on Mr Lam’s Facebook page, to enable pre-ordering of food.
Staff will have temperature and health checks before they start their shift.
The Golden Ball, Longton
The Golden Ball gastropub will open from 12pm on July 4.
The large pub has five sections inside enabling them to adhere to the social distancing guidelines. There are also two large, outdoor terraced areas.
Food will be served from Wednesday – Sunday from 12 noon
Menus include the Golden Menu (for over 65’s), Market Menu (showcasing local produce), Weekend Additions (available Friday-Sunday), Kids Menu plus a Tapas Menu. They also do Sunday Roasts.
The Golden Ball also has two wood fire pizza ovens with pizza available to eat in and takeaway every Friday – and also on sunny days.
People can also hire the ovens out for their own parties
Bubble parties – there are two private areas available for anyone wanting to reserve a space just for family / friends in their ‘bubble’
The Golden Ball is dog friendly – including menu and wash stations .
They are finalising details of a new takeaway service.

The Adelphi, Adelphi Street
The Adelphi will be open on July 4 with social distancing measures in place. There will be a dedicated member of staff sanitising tables and drinks will be table service only.
The Adelphi is using an app to manage bookings and orders.

The Brook Tavern, Brook Street
Open on July 4 with a new outdoor bar area. Families are welcome outside, but children must remain at their tables and not run free.
Social distancing will be in place inside the pub and in the outside bar.
Drinks will be served to the table – card payment is preferred.
The pub is reviewing guidance regarding the pool table and fruit machine, so they may not be immediately available.

The Wellington, Glovers Court
The Welly is taking table bookings in advance for 50 minute time slots from 11am until 11pm!
Entrance & exit will be via the tunnel leading to the beer garden. All customers will be asked to use hand sanitizer on entry and exit.
You will be assigned a table before you arrive and it will be clearly marked.
There will be a maximum number of 7 people per table.
You will have a designated server to take orders and bring you your drinks.
Contactless payments are preferred.
All staff will be wearing masks, gloves & PPE.
Disposable glassware will be used.
Social Distancing must be adhered to at all times.

The Lane Ends, Blackpool Road
The Lane Ends will be open from Monday July 6. Opening times are 12pm – 10pm Sunday to Thursday and 11am to 11pm Friday and Saturday.
Food will be served from 12-3pm and 4-9pm.
The Hesketh’s Arms, New Hall Lane
Tables for up to six people from a maximum of two households can be booked. A £10 deposit is required, which can be taken to the pub. The £10 will be taken off your bill, but is non refundable if you don’t turn up.
Opening hours will be from 12pm to 10pm for the first week and no children are allowed until further notice.
Entry through the front door and leave by the back.
Food will be served 12pm to 7pm with a take out service available.
Turtle Bay, Cheapside
Turtle Bay is taking bookings for tables of up to six people from July 23.

Baker Street, Avenham Street
It’s first come, first served at Baker Street when they open this weekend. The bar will be open from 12pm till midnight on Saturday and 12pm to 11pm on Sunday. Further opening hours will be announced on Sunday evening.
Contact details will be taken on entry, and drinks will be served at the table. One person will be allowed in the toilets at any time.
There won’t be any live music but football will be on, with the sound turned down, and the DJ has produced a playlist so there will be something to listen to.
Baluga, Miller Arcade
If Porn Star Martini’s are your thing, Baluga is taking bookings. Visit their website to put in a request.
Glovers Bar, Glovers Court
Glovers will be open on Saturday after a full deep clean. Orers will be taken at the tables, which are set out at a safe social distance. There will be temperature checks, hand sanitiser on entry and payment is contactless only.

Barrel and Bean, Leyland Road, Penwortham
Barrel and Bean opens at 12pm on Saturday, with tables spaced out in the indoor and outdoor seating areas. Drinks will be served at the table and guests will be given temperature checks and hand sanitiser on entry.
Contact details will also be taken on entry and there will be no standing at the bar.
The toilet will be cleaned after every use.
Beer Box, Station Road, Bamber Bridge
Beer Box will be welcoming customers on July 5 at 12pm with plans to open seven days a week.
New tables and chairs have been placed apart and Perspex screens have been installed between seating areas. Drinks will be served at the tables and sanitiser will be available to customers.
Only contactless payments will be accepted and tables will only be available for a maximum of six people from two households. Bookings will only be needed on the weekend.
There will be additional cleaning during the day and in-between bookings.
The Pickled Goose, Garstang Road, Barton
The Pickled Goose in Barton is opening on Saturday for food and drinks. Hand sanitiser stations will be stationed around and people must remain seated during their visit.
Toilets will be a one-in-one-out policy. Tables must be booked online in advance.
Yates, Church Street
Yates will be welcoming customers from Saturday. Drinks will be delivered by table service and customers are being asked to download the app to order. They have reduced the number of tables and have signage through the pub.
Tables must be booked in advance and there are sanitiser stations around the pub. There will be regular cleaning, with contact points being washed every 15 minutes.
The Guild, Fylde Road
The Guild will be serving again on Monday. Clear signposting about safety guidelines is visible through the pub and floor markings are around to keep people distanced.
Contactless payments will be accepted and an app is available to place your order. A one-in-one-out system will be in place and there will be a one way system through the pub. You can book tables on their website.
Wellington Hotel, Tulketh Road
The Wellington Hotel in Ashton will be re-opening on Saturday (July 4). Government guidelines will be enforced to ensure the safety of staff and customers.
Wings & Beer Co. Cannon Street
Wings & Beer Co. is also set to open on Saturday. The sports bar has removed some tables to ensure social distancing between groups. Hand sanitiser will also be available and tables must be booked in advance.
Bull & Royal, Church Street
The Bull and Royal will be pulling their first pints again on Monday (July 6). Staff will be wearing masks and the pub will have a one-way system through the pub.
There are screens at the bar and between tables. Tables have been removed to adhere to social distancing and only table service will be available.
Fleece Inn, Liverpool Road, Penwortham
The Fleece in will be also be pulling their first pints on Monday. Contactless payments will be accepted and an app is available to order. A one-in-one-out system will be in place and there will be a one-way system through the pub. Tables can be booked online.
Clear signposting about safety guidelines is through the pub and floor markings to keep people distanced.
1842 Restaurant & Bar, Lune Street
1842 Restaurant and Bar will be back open on Saturday and bookings can be made online. Only two households will be able to share a table with a maximum of 8 people per table.
Time allocations will be based on whether groups are dining or just drinking and will also take group size into account. A deposit of £10 will be required for all tables.
Black-A-Moor Head, Lancaster Road
Black-A-Moor Head will also be opening on Saturday. The pub requires bookings for a table but they will allow walk-ins if tables are available.
Social distancing measures will be in place along with hand sanitizers throughout pub, limited capacity and a one-way system.
Review, Lancaster Road
Review will also be back shaking cocktails on Saturday. Booking can be made online but some walk-ins will be accepted dependant on availability.
Tables will have a fixed time allocation and will allow groups of up to 10 people as long as they are from two households or in social bubbles.
Deposits will be taken for table bookings. Other government advice has been adhered too.
