A Fulwood woman has been baking treat boxes to raise money for Islamic Relief’s Yemen Appeal.
Mazeda Khanam pledged to raise £500 when she started, but more than tripled her target within the space of two weeks.
Analysis from the World Food Programme warns that Covid-19 is contributing to a “perfect storm” of problems that could throw millions more Yemenis into a deeper food crisis by the end of the year.
Professional baker Mazeda, who runs The Baked Touch, is donating all the proceeds of her baking to the people suffering in Yemen.
No stranger to kind gestures, in May Mazeda baked a special cake for NHS frontline workers.

Mazeda’s husband Adam Sayid said: “I am totally shocked and so proud that she has tripled her target.
“Mazeda is a charitable person and always thinking about others. She is giving away all of the fundraising to charity, without cutting anything for her costs on making the bakes.
“On top of that she herself is also donating, and encouraging all her friends and family to do so. I love her for being such a caring person.”
