Armed police have been called to Ashton-on-Ribble after three guns, believed to be air rifles, were seized from a car.
The black car had been travelling down Shelley Road at around 12pm on Sunday (26 July) when the incident occurred.
A witness at the scene said: “Two police cars appeared with an armed response car. They arrested one person in the car while the other just wandered around.
“We overheard the police talking about texting while driving. They searched the car and it appeared like they knew there was something to find.
“They brought out three rifles from the boot. One was black and another was camouflage like a hunting rifle.
“I asked a police officer if they were air rifles and he nodded with a quiet ‘yeah’. The person was bundled into the back of a van and off it went.”
In recent weeks, Lancashire Police have stepped up patrols in the nearby area of Plungington, after residents complained their quality of life was at risk from crime, drug users, fly tipping and antisocial behaviour.
