Children at Ashbridge on Ribble Day Nursery will be able to learn through play inside a refurbished former fishing vessel, and outside on the deck overlooking the River Ribble.

The facility also provides a Beach Hut classroom, covered play areas and an adventure playground, as well as direct access to the banks of the river.

The nursery is run by Ashbridge, which has three other nurseries in the Preston area, and an independent school in Hutton.

Headteacher Mrs Karen Metha said: “I am delighted to be opening the brand new purpose-built River School facility at our Ashbridge on Ribble Nursery. Our aim at Ashbridge is for every child to flourish in our nurturing and caring environment.

“Our River School will give your children the opportunity to access the first classroom of its kind, with a dedicated River School practitioner to lead engaging and child-centered activities.”
