The company behind the Shankly Preston says it hopes the £15 million city centre hotel will open later this year.

Signature Living responded to Blog Preston’s request for an update after a crane was spotted at the site of the former Post Office earlier this week.

A spokesperson for Signature Living said: “We are delighted that work is beginning on our Shankly Preston hotel.

“We do not have a date as of yet, but we are hoping it will be towards the end of the year.

“Please keep up to date and in contact with our social media.”

The update follows months of uncertainty, during which time work at the site ground to a halt, and stories of Signature Living’s financial difficulties abounded.
