Police investigation after girl, 12, racially abused in a Preston street

A 12-year-old girl was racially abused as she walked in a street in Preston.

At around 6.15pm on Saturday June 20, the girl was in Fyle Road, close to the junction of Kirkham Street, when a man allegedly shouted racist abuse at her from a passing car.

Police are now investigating the incident. A spokesperson said: “Hate crimes are taken very seriously, and we are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time, particularly if you might have any dashcam footage, to come forward and assist with our enquiries.

“We are eager to trace the driver of a small black hatchback which we have on CCTV in the area at the time. Our CCTV enquiries are ongoing.”
