A fundraiser has been set up in memory of footballer Christian Mbulu, who died at his home in Cottam last week (Tuesday May 26).

Mbulu, 23, was a defender for Morecambe FC and had previously played for Millwall, Motherwell and Crewe Alexandra.

The cause of his death has not been confirmed.

Donations to the GoFundMe page, set up in his memory have already topped £18,500.

The organisers hope to raise £50,000 for his family.

They said: “Anyone who had the pleasure of crossing paths with Christian will remember him as a genuine, humble, pure-hearted soul, who would do anything for anyone, and with a smile that could light up any room.

“Christian will never be forgotten and he will forever live on in the hearts of those he loved and those who loved him.”
