Preston City Council’s green volunteers team say volunteer litter pickers can operate.

They’ve issued guidance for social distanced litter picking after the government updated their guidelines for England’s coronavirus lockdown.

Anyone doing a volunteer litter pick is asked to :

  • wear gloves during the clean-up at all times
  • wash hands thoroughly for 20 seconds before and after the litter pick
  • clean and disinfect regularly touched objects, such as litter pickers, using regular cleaning products
  • stay at least two metres, about three steps, away from other people where possible

Preston City Council says it is not loaning out litter picking equipment such as pickers, bag holders and vests at present.
