Firefighters spent some of their Sunday afternoon rescuing a stranded cat.

The feline had become stuck 15 metres up a tree in Preston.

An aerial platform was used by the crews from Preston Fire Station to retrieve the cat from its lofty position.

Preston Fire Station tweeted: “Yes it really does still happen. Earlier this afternoon the wholetime crew from Preston Fire Station came to the aid of a cat stuck approx 15 metres up a tree.

“An awkward rescue made harder with attack crows pecking at the poor cat.

“All made safer with use of the aerial ladder platform.”
