Over-running gantry works near Preston Railway Station now complete

Works to replace a gantry near Preston Railway Station has been completed.

Over-running energineering works caused delays and cancellations to Northern, TransPennine and Avanti West Coast services throughout Bank Holiday Monday (May 25) morning.

Network Rail said shortly before mid-day on Monday they had finished the works.

National Rail Enquiries said disruption to services is continuing throughout Monday afternoon.

Northern services between Blackpool and Blackburn are not calling at Preston until Tuesday (May 26).

Only essential travel on railways is permitted at present due to the coronavirus pandemic.
