A new solar farm is planned for the roof of a Preston factory.
Sofa cover makes and reupholstery specialists Plumbs have applied for permission for 829 solar panels to be installed.
Aniron Limited, based in Northampton, are managing the proposals for the Brookhouse Mill premises in Old Lancaster Lane in Ashton-on-Ribble.
The mill building is listed and so requires full planning consent for the works.
A statement from Aniron says: “The solar generation will help reduce the site’s grid consumption and has been sized so that all of the electricity generated from the solar is self-consumed on site due to the sites very high grid electricity demand.”

They believe the use of the solar power generated from Plumbs roof could off-set the equivalent of 111,705kg of carbon dioxide per year.
Brookhouse Mill is grade-II listed and was built in 1844 as a cotton spinning mill.
The full plans can be seen on the Preston City Council website.
