A charity is offering work experience opportunities in Spain for 40 people from the Preston area.
Creativity Works Preston (CWP) has been awarded £97,000 for a work experience project titled Home and Away, after a successful bid to the EU Erasmus Plus programme.
The three-week long placements in Cantabria, Northern Spain, will take place in June 2020. They are available to anyone aged 18+ who is undertaking a vocational course or qualification.
The work experience will be coordinated by CWP’s partner organisation Permacultura Cantabria, which has secured placement opportunities in a variety of areas including hair and beauty, sport, catering, maintenance and care.
Funding will cover travel, food and accommodation, plus a weekly allowance of £70.
Steve Egan, Chief Executive of CWP, said: “We believe passionately that the opportunity to experience a period of working or volunteering abroad can be a great lever in helping people increase confidence and with it their employability skills.
“All too often we hear employers say that job applicants lack the necessary work experience and basic skills such as problem solving and time management.
“Any person fortunate enough to participate in the project will not only improve their CV but with it their confidence and ability to stand out from the crowd when seeking employment.”
Creativity Works Preston (CWP) is a registered charity that was established to meet the need of young people not in employment, education or training (NEETS). It aims to provide a supportive and nurturing environment for young people to continue education and acquire the necessary skills in readiness for secure, sustained and gainful employment.
