Preston florist Joan Marsden is moving her popular shop, The Secret Garden, to Preston city centre in a new venture with her daughter.
Joan decided to join forces with daughter Jade Barson at Green Pheasant Gifts in Winckley Street after road changes for the UCLan Masterplan impacted her Adelphi Street business.
Speaking about Joan’s decision, Jade said: “The road has been closed for some time now because of the work with UCLan. It still has a long way to go before it reopens, and unfortunately the business is no longer accessible for her customers.”

Green Pheasant Gifts and The Secret Garden opened on Tuesday (10 March). Jade’s aim is to create a one-stop-shop for gifts, cards and flowers.
She said: “As an independent retailer stocking individually sourced gifts we will offer something a little different from the usual high street retailers.
“I’m working with local suppliers where possible and bringing my own style to the boutique, with an emphasis on rural chic and vintage luxury items.
“I hope to provide a truly unique shopping experience that will become a destination for shoppers wanting a thoughtful and stylish, one-of-a-kind gift. It’s a true family business and together we will provide a complete home and gift service.”
