Friday 21 February

Avenham Park Xplorer
Avenham Park, PR1 8JT
10am – 12pm
A family navigational challenge that is both fun and educational. Explore the park and follow the map to find the markers. No need to register just pay and collect your map from our stand outside the pavilion on the day.

Half Term Indoor Bouncy Castle World
Billy’s Partytime Entertainments, Liverpool Road, PR4 5SL

£8.50 per child, £3 per adult and under 5s are also £3.
Each session lasts two hours where you will get to do battle in the Laser Maze, race the assault course or even go surfing. Bounce on normal castles or do battle on the pillow bash to beat the gladiators of the world and test your strength on the bungee run of fun.

AGM and Dunkirk Film Night

A rare chance to see Dunkirk – the classic British version – filmed in 1958 and starring Richard Attenborough and Bernard Lee. Introduction by Roger Goodwin and price includes a hot pot supper. Photo ID is needed for entry. Tickets cost £10 for members and £12 for non-members. 01772 260584.

Lauren Housley and Simon James

UK singer-songwriter Lauren Housley sets out on a run of intimate acoustic shows for the first half of the year in preparation of her new album release in Summer 2020. Saturday 22 February

First Aid Class for parents, carers and grandparents
The Space Centre, 10 Pedders Lane, Preston, PR2 2TH
9.30am – 11.30am
Would you know what to do in a medical emergency with a baby or child in your care? Would baby’s grandparents/babysitter? Attend an award-winning baby and child first aid workshop to learn lifesaving skills. Taught in a relaxed and informal manner learn – CPR, choking, burns and breaks, bumps and bleeds, febrile convulsions and meningitis awareness for £20.
Everyone receives a first aid booklet and relevant handouts and has the opportunity to top up on first aid items. Call 07917 154554 to book.

Preston’s Buckled Wheel – Advanced Saturday Ride
Walton le Dale Community Primary School, Severn Drive, Walton le Dale, PR5 4TD
10am – 1pm
The route picks up the Guild Wheel from Avenham Park and heads out in the direction of Preston Docks. The profile of the route is a wobbly oval, rather than a circle! This is a restricted ride suitable for more advanced riders. Participants under 16 must be accompanied. Free to join, register via the Let’s Ride website.

Churchtown Jumble Sale
Kirkland and Catteral Memorial Hall, Churchtown, PR3 0HR
11am – 1pm
Jumble sale to raise funds for the 2020 Churchtown Children’s Festival. Doors open from 11am. You can drop off jumble to sell from 8.30am.

Worldwise Samba Drummers
Worldwise Samba Drummers will lead the Mardi Gras parade

Mardi Gras in Preston
Avenham and Miller Parks, South Meadow Lane, PR1 8JT

Celebrate Mardi Gras with a parade through Preston city centre, down to Avenham Park. Led by Worldwise Samba Drummers, the parade is open to anyone to join in, and wearing of costumes is encouraged! Musicians, dancers and performers are all invited to this free event. The parade starts at 11am from the Mobility Centre Car Park. Meet there or join in at any point along the route up Cheapside, along Fishergate, in Winckley Square or in Avenham Park.

Jack and Jill and The Beanstalk (The Pantomime)

Join Brindle Players in their 27th annual pantomime, Jack and Jill and The Beanstalk, a Spotlight Productions Pantomime by Craig Hewlett. A fun-filled musical adventure for all the family. Suitable for ages 5+. Adults £10, concessions £7, family (two adults and two concessions) £30.

Saturday Singalong by KTB Music

Saturday Singalong with Katy Bradley is on the second and fourth Saturdays of most months.No requirements to sign up or join anything, just drop in and be ready for a laugh and a sing with good company and a huge variety of songs to tickle everybody’s fancy. £3 to take part.

Dens, nests and shelters

Join Woodland Explorers making nests and dens and enjoying all different types of shelters. This activity involves the use of fire and so it is advised that chaperones are 1:1 with participants to help them to take part safely. Extra adults may attend at no extra cost. £8.

Go the Extra Mile

Go the extra mile this heart awareness month. Join forces with ABL by walking or running a mile around Preston Docks! Spread the awareness of good heart health and raise the much-needed funds for Heartbeat.

Birds and Feeders at Moor Park

Join this walk and talk with the Park Ranger and bird expert, all about garden birds.This will then be followed by bird box and feeder making. You can also create a bird box and feeder to take home with you for £2.50.To take part just meet at the Ranger Pavilion next to the Rosemary on the Park Cafe.
