Friday 14 February

Heartbeat at Preston Markets
Preston Markets, Earl Street, PR1 2JA
8am – 8pm
This large scale light art installation will light up the Market canopy each day this weekend. For the heart to appear, spectators are encouraged to make a connection of love, or friendship, by joining hands in front of the sculpture. Once the connection is lost the heart is broken into fragments again.

Valentine’s Day at the Harris: Ivan Campo
The Harris, Market Square, PR1 2PP
7pm – 9.30pm
Romance is in the air at the Harris for a special evening of live music for a Valentine’s Day you’ll never forget. Preston/Manchester based indie trio, folk-pop band Ivan Campo formed in Preston in 2004 after studying Contemporary Music together at UClan. Tickets £10.

Comedy Night 4 at The Venue
Penwortham Arts Centre ‘The Venue’, Liverpool Road, PR1 9XE

Another night of comedy at The Venue featuring Tony Law, Tony Vino and Steve Royle.

Valentine Family Disco

Family disco event, take the whole family to celebrate St Valentine’s day with DJ Slug, games and prizes on offer. £3 a ticket.

Eclipse – The Pink Floyd Experience
New Continental, South Meadow Lane, PR1 8JP
8pm – 11pm
The current production contains a selection of Floyd classics, including music from The Wall, Wish You Were Here, Meddle, Animals, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn and The Division Bell. £16 advance or £18 on the door.

The Ultimate Valentine’s Day Singles Party

Saturday 15 February

Mysterious Lancashire Day Tour One
Neil McDonald’s Megalithic-Tours, 50 Cottam Avenue, PR2 3XH

The First of Two Lancashire Tours. Hear about John Dee and Edward Kelly raising the dead and visit the churchyard in Preston were the deed was done.

Dr Seuss – Green Eggs and Ham at Clayton Green
Clayton Green Library, Clayton Green Business Park, Library Road, PR6 7EN
11am – 12pm
Enjoy a fun hour based upon Dr Seuss’s classic book, Green Eggs and Ham. Lots of reading along with a treasure hunt, games, and more. Accompanied children aged four and over welcome.

Life Drawing at the Harris
The Harris, Market Square, PR1 2PP
12pm – 3pm
The popular life drawing sessions take place in the beautiful fine art galleries. All abilities are welcome. This session is open to over 18s. Suggested donation on the day is £3. All proceeds will support future events. Please note, there will be no admittance after 12 noon. You will also need to bring your own dry materials and paper.

A Frozen Valentine’s Party at Jollies Barn

Continue filling your journal with Susan’s help and advice for £15. If you wish to begin a journal then the price will be £35 to cover the cost.

Pets as Therapy Family Fun Day
Barton Grange Garden Centre, Garstang Road, PR3 0BT
11am – 3.30pm
Come along to the Green Room to meet the team and some of the registered therapy dogs from the charity Pets as Therapy. The charity will have lots of fun activities for all the family to join in including colouring in, guess the name of the dog and much more! On the day there will be plenty of information about the charity, entry will be free but donations are welcome.

Free Tours with Witch Janey
Samlesbury Hall, Preston New Road, Samlesbury, PR5 0UP
11am and 2pm
Join the hilarious ‘Janey’ as she tells the gruesome tales of Samlesbury – great for all the family! Tours begin in the Great Hall. The Sunday tour is free of charge along with free admission.

North West Reptile Club – Meet and Greet
Brockholes Nature Reserve, Preston New Road, PR5 0AG
12pm – 3pm
North West Reptile Club are inviting you to go along to meet these often-misunderstood friendly exotic creatures. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. Normal parking charges apply.

Princess Afternoon Tea

Valentines Afternoon Tea with Elsa, Rapunzel and Ariel. There’s will be a singalong and meet and greet opportunities. Adults cost £17.95, children £14.95, and under 3s are £5 (if no food is required). There’s a £5 deposit to book.

BwD Big Band

Led by experienced jazzer Paul Rigby, The BwD Big Band is a modern youthful twist on the Big Band tradition. Aiming to bring the big band sound to the masses, with a repertoire ranging from Miller to Mars. Tickets are £10 / £8 concessions, and under 11s go free with adult.
