It may seem like the kids have only just settled in at school after the Christmas holidays but February half term is nearly here.

See our list below to keep the kids entertained in and around Preston.

Saturday 15 February

The Xplorer challenge
Brockholes Nature Reserve, Preston New Road, Preston, PR5 0AG
10am – 3pm
Explore Brockholes, find the themed markers, complete the challenge, have fun together! £3 per map pack, car parking charges also apply.
The Xplorer challenge will take place every day until Sunday 23 February.

Sunday 16 February

Free Tours with Witch Janey
Samlesbury Hall, Preston New Road, Samlesbury, Preston, PR5 0UP
11am
Join the hilarious ‘Janey’ as she tells the gruesome tales of Samlesbury – great for all the family!
Tours begin in the Great Hall at 11am and 2pm.
The Sunday tour is free of charge along with free admission.

Reptile Encounter
Brockholes Nature Reserve, Preston New Road, Preston, PR5 0AG
12pm – 3pm
North West Reptile Club are inviting you to come along to their Reptile Encounter. Free event but car parking charges apply.

Monday 17 February

Withy Lantern Making
Brockholes Nature Reserve, Preston New Road, Preston, PR5 0AG
10am – 3pm
A chance to get creative and make your own Withy Lantern from flexible willow to light up the dark winter evenings.
10am – 12 & then 1pm – 3pm. Doors will be closed between 12 & 1pm.
£3.50 per lantern, pay on the door. Parking charges also apply.

FREE Half Term Fun with Betsy Bumblebee
Samlesbury Hall, Preston New Road, Samlesbury, Preston, PR5 0UP
11am
Betsy Bumblebee is back again this year for half term. Hear her very own stories and find the clues around the Hall to complete the quiz. Free tickets are available online, first come first served. Please be aware that places cannot be guaranteed.
Monday 17th February – Thursday 20th February, 11am and 12pm each day.

Tuesday 18 February

Haslam Park Xplorer
Haslam Park, Bristow Avenue, Ashton, Preston, PR2 1JE
10am – 12pm
Xplorer is a family navigational challenge that invites you to explore the park and follow the map to find the markers.
This is a free event. Register and collect your map on the day from the stand near the bowling huts on Haslam Park.

Children’s Crafts at Hoghton Tower
Hoghton Tower, Preston, PR5 0SH
10.30am – 2.30pm
Hoghton Tower hosts children’s crafts this February half term, perfect for all the family to enjoy.
A wide range of crafts at an assortment of prices starting from £1.
Tuesday 18th, Wednesday 19th, Thursday 20th February.

Wild Families: Den Village
Brockholes Nature Reserve, Preston New Road, Preston, PR5 0AG
2pm – 4pm
Build a Den Village in the woodland. Take part in some games and challenges to win extra materials for your den and let your imagination run wild!
£5 each and £18 per family (two adults and two children), and car charges apply.

Wednesday 19 February

Half Term Heroes
Ribble Steam Railway and Museum, Chain Caul Road, Preston, PR2 2PD
10am – 3:30pm
Dress up and meet your favourite Super Hero!
Have a fun day out visiting the museum, workshop & playground, with unlimited train rides all day.
Adults – £7, kids – £4.50 and under 3’s are free.

Thursday 20 February

Forest School Family Fun
Brockholes Nature Reserve, Preston New Road, Preston, PR5 0AG
2pm – 4pm
Forest School Family Fun is a great opportunity to get out in nature as a family. Discover, play, be creative and have fun in the woodland.
£5 each and £18 per family (two adults and two children), and car charges apply.

Friday 21 February

Aardman Animations Model Making Workshops at the Harris
Harris Museum, Art Gallery & Library, Market Square, Preston, PR1 2PP
11am – 12pm, 1pm – 2pm, 2.30pm – 3.30pm
Join an expert model maker from Aardman Animations for a fun, hands-on clay modelling workshop.
Budding animators also get a rare chance to ask questions about the tricks of the trade from the Aardman studio, and learn about the animation process involved in the making of their award winning films.
This event is suitable for ages 7 years+. All children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the workshop.
Tickets are £10 and booking is essential. Tickets are available from Harris Eventbrite or the Harris shop (no booking fee applies).

Saturday 22 February

Family Arty Silent Disco
Brockholes Nature Reserve, Preston New Road, Preston, PR5 0AG
1:30pm ‐ 3pm
Arts and crafts, two channel silent disco, bubbles, fancy dress and dance floor challenges. £6 plus booking fee per adult OR child. Parking charges also apply. Everyone attending needs a ticket – all adults and children Recommended age 4+.

Sunday 23 February

Fairy Jars
Brockholes Nature Reserve, Preston New Road, Preston, PR5 0AG
10am – 3pm
Get creative in this drop-in craft session and make Fairy Jars. This is a drop-in activity, no need to book.
£3.50 per jar, car parking charges also apply.
