Update: The cyclist was rescued at around 5.40pm. A firefighter went into the water with a small inflatable sled and pulled him back to dry land, where he was helped straight into the waiting ambulance.
A rescue is underway in Miller Park after a cyclist has become stranded in floodwater.
An eyewitness said the cyclist had been warned by a park professional not to go through the water but ignored advice.
When he got into difficulties, the cyclist was directed to swim to the bandstand where he is currently stood on a park bench awaiting rescue.
The eyewitness said the cyclist has been there for around 40 minutes.
There are two ambulance cars, one ambulance, three police cars, one police van and three fire engines in attendance. They are apparently waiting for the tide to go down before mounting the rescue.
