A new night celebrating funk, disco and northern soul is coming to Preston.
Feel The Need is on at the Adelphi this Friday (7 February).
The event has been created by Preston-based vinyl DJ Chris Griffiths, aka Telstar.
Chris, who grew up with his dad playing northern soul events in the 1960s as Telstar Disco, said: “As a DJ who plays funk, disco, soul and northern, I’ve been trying over the last few months to get Preston bouncing to some old school classics.
“It’s been pretty successful so far, and it resulted in me organising the first Feel the Need event in November. We had DJs and live music from Manchester funk band Atomic Brass. It went so well that I’m doing it again!”
The next event will see vinyl DJs Telstar, Chris Holt and Justin Time playing an eclectic mix from Motown classics to modern funky disco.
Live music will be provided by Preston band Templebys, who are described as offering a large measure of soul and a generous helping of funk, muddled together with a sprinkle of acid jazz.
Chris is hoping the night will be another success. He said: “I would love to get Preston dancing to something that isn’t house or drum and bass for a change. I’m doing something new that I know appeals to all ages and am really excited about it!”
Feel The Need will take place at the Adelphi in Fylde Street from 8pm on Friday 7 February. For more information visit the Feel The Need Facebook event.
