Part of the A6 is due to close on Monday (13 January) for eight weeks.
The road will have works being carried out by gas company Cadent between Broughton and Bilsborrow, with a lane closure and two-way temporary traffic lights in place.
The work follows the M6 closure between junctions 32 and 33 in both directions, which finished two days ahead of schedule on Saturday 11 January.
Lancashire County Council has confirmed that the A6 will remain open but with just one lane open for the eight weeks while work is being carried out.
