However the work was completed on Saturday and the motorway – which was closed in both directions – reopened at 10pm on Saturday.

A diversion was in place along the A6 while the work was carried out.

A section of the A6 at Bilsborrow will be closed from Monday to allow gas company Cadent to carry out work.
