Nans Nook footbridge is being removed for operational purposes

The M6 near Preston is due to be closed next weekend.

The highway is expected to be fully closed between junctions 32 and 33 in both directions from 8pm on Friday 10 January to 5am on Monday 13 January.

Despite earlier reports of the closures running for three weekends, Highways England subsequently confirmed the following two dates (17 – 20 January and 24 – 27 January) are at this point only reserved in case further works are required.

The closure is due to the removal of Nans Nook footbridge, which is located just south of Lancaster Motorway Services.

The work is subject to weather conditions, so there is a possibility it could be cancelled at short notice.
