A community interfaith event is taking place in Preston in response to a controversial Netflix series.
Messiah stars Michelle Monaghan as a CIA officer investigating a charismatic figure whose followers believe he can perform miracles.
The Preston event – The Return of the Messiah – will see speakers from the Christian and Islamic faiths providing insights into each religion.
A spokesperson said: “The timing of this event coincides with the controversial Netflix series, which has caused a storm among Christians and Muslims alike.
“The purpose of the seminar is to build bridges, remove ignorance and provide clear information according to the scriptures of the two great religions.
“We hope to see more members of the wider community from all backgrounds and creeds at the event.”
Organised by Madani Institute, the free event will take place on Saturday 1 February at the Royal Banquet Hall in Albyn Street East off London Road. Doors open at 6pm. Over 300 places have already been reserved, so booking is essential via Eventbrite.
Poetry by Sufi Mystic Rumi will be recited by Madani Naat Group, and Biryani food packs will be served to all the attendees at the end of the seminar.
