Santa’s Post Box
Brockholes Nature Reserve, Off Junction 31 of the M6 Preston, PR5 OAG

Write your letter to Santa at Brockholes before heading off on a winter walk to Santa’s Post Box! Letter packs are priced at £5.00 for online orders (available until 11.45pm the day before) or from the Welcome Centre on the day at £6.50 per pack. Car parking charges apply.

Annual charity Christmas Carols

Festive carols will be sung by Preston Gilbert and Sullivan Society with all funds raised supporting the Mayor’s charities: Rosemere, Emmaus, Dig in, and Friends of Mulanje Orphans.
Drinks and mince pies will be served on arrival at 6:30pm with carols beginning at 7pm. There will also be a raffle with prizes donated from businesses and organisations across the area.
Tickets are £10 per person and payment needs to be made ahead of the evening.
Tickets are available to purchase/collect from Preston Town Hall. Payment by cheque only, cheques to be made payable to David Borrow.

The Good Old Days

The Good Old Days is coming to Hutton Village Hall. Seven acts along with a pit orchestra will perform on the night which adds up to an incredible 22 musicians’ singers and dancers.
The event is being arranged by the members of ‘The Well-Dressed Gentlemen’ a band specialising in the music of the 1920’s. All of the performers give their time free of charge and all money raised goes to St Catherine’s Hospice.
Doors open at 6.45, the show starts at 7.30. Tickets are available from 01772 611011 and are £12.00.

ComedySportz

Heroes, villains, songs and silliness guaranteed with the ComedySportz Improvised Pantomimes this December! The group, who have been entertaining audiences with quick-witted competitive comedy since 2001, will be bringing some family friendly festive fun to The Palace Cinema at Longridge. Every show is different as players craft loving pastiche of panto tropes and characters from audience suggestions and a sprinkling of fairy dust. The performers don’t know their roles beforehand and might even get you involved in the action!

Christmas Lantern & Plaque Workshop (incl afternoon tea)

Go along to this one day fun and friendly workshop and enjoy the famous Cuerden Afternoon Tea in the gorgeous View Cafe looking out over the valley. Make a lovely Christmas Lantern and Christmas Plaque using a variety of creative painting and craft techniques including decoupage, chalk painting, foiling, raised stencilling etc. You will be able to experiment with different paints, colours, and brushes. Avenham Park Cheeky Santa Dash
10.30am from the Miller Park Bridge
Cut a cheeky dash this Christmas for Rosemere Cancer Foundation by signing up to the sixth annual Cheeky Santa Dash in Avenham Park that is raising funds for the charity.

The dash is a 5k two-lap festive family fun run around the grounds that this year will take a slightly different route to accommodate the closure of the old tramway bridge over the Ribble.
Some 104 runners have already entered, among them Louise Harlow, who founded the dash with her late husband Ben Ashworth. All runners will receive a finishers’ medal, hot drink or juice and a mince pie.

Entry is £10 for anyone aged 16 years and above and £5 for children, (children must be accompanied by a paying adult). Prams are welcome (free entry) and participants can run, jog or walk. Festive fancy dress is encouraged but not obligatory. To enter, go to www.rosemere.org.uk

Wreath Making Workshop

This weekend (Saturday and Sunday), Brockholes will be running one of their most popular craft sessions of the year – Christmas Wreath Making! Booking is essential as places are limited. Wreath making tickets include wreath making materials for one wreath and admission to the workshop for a maximum of two people (adult or child), as children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. The workshop is only suitable for children aged 5+ and is £7.50 per wreath, car parking charges also apply.

Christmas Concert

Go along to the popular Christmas concert at the Longridge Civic Hall. This concert will also feature the fantastic Junior band.

Sunday 08 December

Christmas Magic

Go along for a magical Christmas experience in the Park.
Your ticket includes a delicious breakfast or lunch provided by Cuerden View café. After which the children will write a letter to Father Christmas and collect a trail map to find the Santa’s secret grotto hidden in the park.  The children will exchange their letter for an early Christmas gift. All children must be accompanied by an adult who also has a ticket.
Don’t forget to specify the ages of the children and any special dietary needs.
Booking is required, £12.50 children, £10 adults

Breakfast with Santa

Santa will be coming down to the Ribble Pilot on the 8th and the 22nd December along with his little helper Natasha, who will be joining in with the kids helping them make crafts!
Tickets are £7.95 per child which includes their breakfast, craft supplies and a present!

The sponsored St Catherine’s Santa Dash is returning to Preston Docks.Take on the three-mile sponsored dash or dawdle around the iconic waters and help raise funds for your much-loved local charity at this special time of year.£10 for adults and £5 for supporters aged 8 to 17 to sign up, which includes your Santa suit. (The minimum age to take part is 8, and under 18s must be accompanied by an adult around the route).

Christmas Wreath Making Workshop at the Harris

Join Angela from Petal and Twig to celebrate the festive season with a Christmas wreath making workshop.
Tickets are £45 and include tuition and all materials and a hot drink and mince pie from the Harris café.

Santa’s Grotto and Christmas Markets

Christmas stalls offering mulled wine, crafts/gifts and food from the 7th of December. There is also a grotto where your little ones can meet Santa and receive a gift (£5 additional charge)

Santa is back at Brockholes. Go along and meet him in their traditional Christmas Grotto. Appointments are available between 11.30am and 3.00pm, in 30-minute time slots. All children require a ticket to see Santa regardless of age. Book an under 3’s ticket if required to ensure that children receive an age appropriate present.
£7.50 per child and car parking charges also apply.

Sherds 
The Harris Museum, Art Gallery & Library, Market Square, Preston PR1 2PP

Sherds is based on a six-week archaeological field school which took place at Malkin Tower Farm in Pendle. It was co-created by artists Nastassja Simensky and Rebecca Lee, who were artists in residence at the dig, in collaboration with an ensemble of musicians and vocalists. The five ‘verses’ incorporate passing conversations, local news, and the rhythms of the dig, combining spoken word, movement, improvisation, field recordings, and newly composed music. A pre-performance talk with the artists, archaeologists, and musicians will also take place.
It might be particularly interesting to those with a passion for local history/archaeology, or anyone involved in new music and visual arts. 
Tickets are free and can be booked via Eventbrite.
