Preston Guild Hall plays a starring role in trailer for martial arts film IP Man 4

Preston Guild Hall in IP Man 4

It’s been a tough year for Preston Guild Hall, but this week the troubled venue has had its moment in the sun.


The trailer for the new martial arts film IP Man 4 (The Finale) is out, and the Guild Hall plays a starring role.

Scenes for the film were shot in Preston in July 2018 with martial arts actor Donnie Yen making an appearance on set.

The scenes show the Guild Hall transformed into a 1960s auditorium with vintage cars pulling up outside on Lancaster Road.

The bus station was also used for filming, as parts of the iconic building were cast as an airport, as corporation buses were replaced by yellow taxis.

IP Man 4 The Finale is released on Christmas Day. In the film, the Kung Fu master travels to San Fransico to discover his pupil Bruce Lee has upset the martial arts community by opening a Wing Chun school.
