Friends of Winckley Square Christmas Concert returns for its best year yet

This year the Friends of Winckley Square Christmas Concert is set to be the best yet with fabulous  performers and a sound and light show.

The event is held annually and this year will be held on Sunday 1December from 3pm.

The group have received sponsorship from BID (Business Improvement District) and WSCIC (Winckley Square Community Interest Company) which has allowed them to make the concert even better than before.

A spokesperson from the event said: “Help us kick start Christmas and spend an afternoon meeting friends and family, drinking mulled wine with a hot mince pie and take part in a good old sing along.”

This year will feature more performers and a great Sound and Light Finale with a pyrotechnic display provided by UK Media & Events Limited

John Gillmore (Gilly) from BBC Radio Lancashire will be MC for most of the afternoon with the St Stephens Choir opening the event with carols.

The event will also feature Malcom, a professional bagpipe player, Dan Murphy of Brothers of Swing who will be singing songs on Frant Sinatra and Michel Buble.

Also joining the performers is Sochia Enos, a local talent who had successful performance at the Winkley Square’s Big Lunch in June.

There will be also be a pop up Licensed Bar selling a range of drinks including mulled wines, real ales.

There will be food and hot drinks including warm mince pies, hot dogs and of course Peter’s Parched Peas.
