Six fire engines have attended reports of a fire this morning at Waverley Gardens.
Three crews from Preston and Fulwood were called to the flats where it was believed there may have been a person trapped in the affected flat.
Fire crews requested the attendance of further three supporting crews from Penwortham and Bamber Bridge.
One casualty was rescued and received treatment from ambulance crews at the scene.
Six firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used two hose reel jets and a ventilation unit to tackle the fire.
Fire crews are currently still in attendance.
