An Ashton woman is appealing for donations to help Preston’s homeless people this winter.
Lynsey Battle will be giving bags of essentials to the homeless in Preston city centre on Friday 13 December from 5pm, and she needs help collecting the items. She is on the look out for winter clothing including gloves, hats and socks, plus toiletries, snacks, sleeping bags, and a little gift for Christmas.
On the night Lynsey will be distributing hot drinks, so she is also looking for donations of flasks.
Lynsey said: “I have always tried to support the homeless since I was younger.
“I wanted to do something to help them and show my children the true meaning of Christmas is giving and helping others who are in need – and for them to realise being kind to each other is so important.
“We help the homeless throughout the year not just at Christmas but try to get more people involved at this time of year.”

Lynsey has used shoeboxes during past appeals but is instead using bags this year. She says whatever people can spare will greatly help the cause.
Noblett’s Fish and Chips will be offering hot food on the night, and Tony Abraham from Miller’s Taxis has donated sleeping bags.
If you would like to donate, the drop off point is Miller’s Taxis at 273 Brook Street, or you can email Lynsey at lynzom@live.com to arrange collection.
